How to write communication and collaboration comments for P4-P7
- Name a group role the pupil took, such as scribe, timekeeper or reporter, and how they handled it. Rotating roles is a useful next step for pupils who dominate or hold back.
- Comment on presentations: does the pupil speak clearly, use notes sensibly and answer questions from the audience? Peer feedback against success criteria gives you specific evidence to quote.
- Credit leadership such as being a buddy to a P1, a sports leader or a pupil council representative, and describe one way the pupil supported others. That shows collaboration beyond friendship groups.
Watch out: Keep classmates' names and friendship issues out of the written comment. Describe the pupil's own actions, such as listening before replying, and raise anything sensitive at parents' evening or a learning conversation.
Let the level shape the wording. Secure suits consistently, independently and without being asked; Consolidating suits usually and with growing confidence; Developing suits sometimes and with reminders; Beginning names what the pupil can do with adult support or a visual prompt. Show the level through one behaviour you have seen rather than repeating the word itself.
